3 New Cantrips

There you can find 3 new cantrips for D&D 5e, expecially suited for characters who live in wilderness.

They are converted from a 2nd edition article appeared in Dragon #251 by Mr. Steve Berman

In a campaign of mine, High and Wood Elves can choose them as part of their Cantrip trait.

They're on Druid's spell list and Wisdom is your spellcasting ability for them.

Ammunition Bides
Transmutation cantrip

Casting Time: 1 reaction, which you take when you miss a ranged weapon attack with a weapon with the ammunition tag
Range: Self
Components: V, M
Duration: 10 minutes

You make a ranged weapon attack with a weapon with the ammunition tag. On a missed attack, the arrow falls on the ground upright and remains intact. If you look for it you can immediately sense its location in a range of 500 ft.
The material component of the spell is one piece of ammunition.

Seek the Stream
Divination cantrip

Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Self
Components: V, M
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 hour

You sense the nearest small body of running water (a stream, a brook, a small river) in a range of 10 miles and you have some mental hints as to how long it takes on foot to reach.
The material component is an empty waterskin.

Trail Lilt
Transmutation cantrip

Casting Time: 1 action
Range: Self
Components: V, S
Duration: Concentration, up to 1 minute

You can use your proficiency bonus to the next Wisdom (Survival) check you make while tracking even if you're not proficient. If you're already proficient in that skill you double your proficiency bonus.

Bye.

The DM.
